A letter of referral is required from the General Practitioner. Referrals should be sent to the NHS Office at: The Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London WC1N 3BG. The National Hospital follows an 18 week target from GP referral to treatment commencement.
A referral from a GP or Consultant may be required if you have Private Medical Insurance (PMI). If a private referral is required this should be sent to The Private Consulting Rooms, The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London WC1N 3BG.
Patients should check with their insurer if the full cost will be met. If the cost is only partly covered by PMI the patient will be responsible for the difference. Self-referrals can be made and the patient is then responsible for all fees.
Standard consultation fees as follows; New patient consultations (typically 40-60 mins) charge £385. Follow-up consultations (typically 30-40 mins) charge £275. Telephone consultations are also available on request. Fees include up to one hour spent on reviewing additional information outside the actual consultation including for example reviewing previous tests such as MRI scans, muscle biopsies and neurophysiology. The consultation fee also includes reasonable post consultation communication. Professor Hanna also undertakes medicolegal work and fees available on request by solicitor.
At The Physicians’ Clinic Professor Hanna and The Physicians Clinic are supported by HCA International.
